At G1 Training Center, our coaches are committed to building champions on and off the mat. With decades of combined experience at the highest levels of wrestling, they bring world-class expertise, unwavering faith, and a heart for developing the next generation of athletes.

Brandon Slay

HEAD COACH

BRANDON SLAY

Brandon Slay is an Olympic Gold Medalist, coach, leader, and mentor with a deep passion for evangelism and discipleship. Born and raised in Amarillo, Texas, Brandon's wrestling journey led him from his hometown to the national stage, culminating in a Gold medal in Freestyle Wrestling at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.

He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and the Wharton School of Business, where he earned a dual degree in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management. During his time at UPenn, he was a two-time NCAA Finalist, All-American, and served as a two-time Team Captain.

Following his competitive career, Brandon took on significant roles at USA Wrestling, serving as the Head Resident Coach at the Olympic Training Center and as a National Development Coach, where he coached 29 World Medalists and 10 World Champions. In 2016, he became the Executive Director and Head Coach of the Pennsylvania Regional Training Center (PRTC), fostering a culture grounded in faith over fear, full effort, resilience, and service to others. Under Coach Slay's leadership at the PRTC, he coached two World Champions and seven National Champions.

He is honored to be recognized as a Distinguished Member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, the University of Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, the EIWA Hall of Fame, and the Texas Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame.

Brandon and his wife, Tina, are proud parents of four wonderful children—Sydney, Charlotte, Savannah, and Sawyer—and are excited to be planting roots in Northwest Arkansas.

Job Greenwood

HEAD YOUTH & DEVELOPMENT COACH

JOB GREENWOOD

Job Greenwood joins the G1 coaching staff with a strong background in high-level wrestling competition, athlete development, and Christ-centered leadership. Originally from Colorado, Job grew up in his family's wrestling club, GRIT Athletics, where his passion for the sport was developed from an early age.

During high school, he earned the opportunity to spend his senior year training at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs as part of the Elite Accelerator Program (EAP). Job continued his wrestling career at the University of Wyoming, where he was a three-year starter and Big 12 placer. His accomplishments on the national stage also include becoming a U23 Greco World Team Trials Champion and a Senior U.S. Open Greco All-American.

Following graduation, Job transitioned directly into coaching and has invested in athletes at several respected programs, including Stillwater High School, Cowboy Kids Wrestling Club, and GRIT Athletics. His experience developing wrestlers at both the youth and high school levels has equipped him with a passion for helping athletes maximize their potential on and off the mat.

Job and his wife, Jayla, along with their daughter, Keziah, are excited to become part of the G1 Family. As a Christian, Job views coaching as an opportunity to impact lives for Christ through the sport of wrestling. His desire is to humbly serve each athlete while instilling the core values of G1—Faith, Family, Fellowship, and Full Effort.

Joshua Rivers

COACH

JOSHUA RIVERS

Joshua Rivers is a wrestling coach, mentor, and leader with a passion for developing athletes of all ages both on and off the mat. Since beginning his coaching career in 2012, he has dedicated himself to building wrestlers while instilling the values of discipline and character that extend far beyond the sport.

Josh is a former area Head Wrestling Coach and assistant coach, where he developed athletes at every level of competition. Throughout his coaching career, he has helped produce 93 State Medalists, 53 All-State wrestlers, 17 State Champions, 12 State Runners-Up and 2 Fargo All-Americans. He earned his USA Wrestling Silver Level Coaching Certification and is committed to continual growth as both a coach and mentor.

At G1 Training Center, Josh works with wrestlers ranging from beginners learning the fundamentals to experienced athletes pursuing state and national success. His coaching philosophy emphasizes mastering the basics, competing with relentless effort, and using wrestling as a vehicle to drive G1's values of Faith, Family, Fellowship and Full Effort.

Josh and his wife, Kinsey, are proud parents of two daughters, Reese and Rylee, and are grateful to call Northwest Arkansas home.
